As part of our trip, The Indian Journeys organised a weeklong tour to experience the tea plantations and spectacular scenery of the Western Ghats, the spice plantations of the Cardamom Hills, elephant riding and bathing (great fun) in Thekkady, and luxury cruising in a houseboat on The Backwaters. From the first contact following our enquiry, right through to end of our trip, the service provided by Mr Newmon was exceptional. A brief call from Mr Newmon each evening to check all was going well was one example of the attentive service The Indian Journeys provide. When our itinerary was disrupted by a local strike, Mr Newmon calmly and quickly contacted drivers and guides to readjust our itinerary to ensure we didn't miss out. What a wonderfully relaxing time New Mon (The Indian Journeys) organized for us in Kerala – starting at the friendly Kochi Fort House where we experienced amazing meals, the Chinese fishing nets and site seeing experiencing delightful tuk tuk rides. From here to the Deshadan Backwater Resort before an enchanting overnight’s stayed on a house boat where we purchased fish that the crew prepared for our dinner. Then to the Marari Pearl for 3 nights (where we were upgraded to a room with our own pool) which gave us just what we needed - relaxation. Here we were able to wonder on the beach and mix with the fisherman while taking in the local atmosphere. All in all a time we will never forget thanks to New Mon’s thoughtful organization.

Dear Newmon A few months ago I read in your web "Athithi Devo Bhava" (The guest is equivalent to God) and although I knew through a person who offers me all the guarantees, I thought, we'll see what happens. Yesterday we arrived in Spain after eleven unforgettable days in the south of India and, indeed, we have been treated as gods. “Our group of 10 travellers (Royal Caribbean Mariner of The Seas, 26th May 2013) were very impressed with the professionalism of New Mon, Arun, Girish and their team from "The Indian Journeys" We were collected from the ship in a clean air conditioned mini bus. Our drive to the houseboat was on a well maintained, not too busy road where our English speaking guide gave us an insight into the lives of the people and information on points of interest. We boarded our traditional style thatch-roofed houseboat, which is unique to Kerala (but fitted with solar panels, air conditioning and a neat clean kitchen) in the town of Alappuzha Our idyllic houseboat journey cruised us through palm shaded vine entwined backwaters where little communities were living their peaceful lives., with us as their curious, privileged audience. We were greeted with smiles, cheers and much waving and made to feel welcome. With the fragrance of curry in the air we eagerly anticipated lunch which was served at "Citrus" a great little 4 star hotel. Lunch was a good variety of foods with a very tasty Chicken curry. Two 750ml bottles of beer per person challenged each one of us! We cruised back all too soon We were returned to our cruise ship well before boarding time feeling exhilarated by our experience. All arrangements were carried out with respect and we felt safe in the very capable care of the smiling New Mon and his team. All 10 of us had a fantastic trouble free experience!

I would highly recommend using Newmon if you want to discover India. We were a party of six who came to Kerala from London, our trip was 13 nights in total over the Christmas and New Year period. Firstly, when organising the trip, Newmon was incredibly patient and accommodating with all my many changes and additions I had whilst creating our tailor-made itinerary. He always replied quickly and professionally to my emails. Using his local knowledge, Newmon was able to suggest and advise on certain areas to visit on the tour, without forcing anything upon us, truly creating our perfect trip. The tour itself was fantastic! Kerala is a beautiful state and the people are incredibly accommodating and friendly. The hotels we stayed in, especially the ones in the mountains, were fantastic with breath-taking views. Our driver, Mr Jerry George, went above and beyond his duty, being there for us whatever the need was. It was a complex trip Newmon had to organise, with two parties arriving on different days at different locations, which he managed very smoothly. There was a minor issue at the start, which Newmon resolved quickly in an expert manner. He also arranged a few surprises for us along the way! We used "The Indian Journeys" Tour Company in January 2017 for tours whilst on a cruise. If you're like my husband and I you will hate the cruise tours, waiting for people to get back to the coach and everything taking so long! This tour company was very good, comfortable cars with our own driver and tour guide. We used the company three times and found both the driver and tour guide very nice on all three tours. The drivers were very attentive to my disability and the tour guides were very knowledgeable. It's certainly a lot nicer way to get to know the place you are visiting and of course you learn a lot more than you would on a coach full of people as this is one to one. Obviously it costs more, but in my opinion well worth it.
